In Estonia, state support is available for the purchase of electric cars. Currently, the "Green Investment Grant" programme is in force, which offers support for the purchase and installation of electric vehicles and charging stations. Here are some important points to know:

  1. Both private individuals and companies wishing to purchase a new electric or plug-in hybrid car can apply for support. The grant is limited to 50% of the cost of the vehicle purchased (up to a maximum of €18 000).
  2. In addition to support for the purchase of an electric car, companies can also apply for support for the installation of charging stations. The grant is up to 50% of the installation costs (but not more than €5,000).
  3. Support can be applied for from KredEx. The application must be submitted before the purchase of the vehicle or the installation of the charging station. After the application has been submitted, the vehicle or charging station must have been in use for at least two years.
  4. You can also apply retroactively if the vehicle was purchased from 1 January 2021.
  5. The Green Investment Grant programme has a limited budget, so it is worth applying quickly.

In addition to national support, there are also various local subsidies and incentives that can help with the purchase or use of an electric car. I recommend checking the websites of local authorities or electric car dealers for more information.
